Webgabber Administration is handled completely from the web via a series of ASP files located in a secure directory under your chat site. This way, anyone you want can have access to the configuration and administration tools from anywhere on the Internet. Since the directory is secured with Windows NT Security, only those users you specifically authorize will have access. Below is a list of features available from the Administration page.

Add New User
This function allows you to add a new chat user to the database without having to go through the Email Verification process. For sites who wish to limit access to their chat, you can disable the ability for users to create accounts and use this feature to add everyone to your user database.

Broadcast Message
There are times when you need to send a message to everyone in currently in chat, like when you are about to reboot the server and kick them all out of chat. From this page you can type in a small message and it will be displayed in every room of your chat simultaneously. The message will be displayed in a bigger font that the other chat text (and in red) so it is sure to get noticed.

Configuration Editor
This one page allows you to configure your entire chat site. There is really no short way to tell you everything you can do from here. So, we've included a sample Configuration Editor page (use your browser's back button to return here).

List Special Mods
Since Special Moderator status is handled on a user by user basis, we added this feature to quickly display all Special Moderators. When you click on the link you will be presented with a list of handles in three columns, SuperMods, SecretMods, and Stealth Users.

Log Search
If you decide to run a chat site, sooner or later you are going to run into some kind of problem user. When this happens, you are going to need to be able to find out everything that that user did and/or said in your chat. The Log Search Utility will allow you to do just that. You can search the logs from a single room on a single day or all rooms for a single day for any text you provide. If you are wanting to find about one user, you can enter that user's handle for the search text and then decide if you want to see everything (all message containing that text), just what the person said, just what people said to that person, or just what was said about that person (including all system messages). There is no better way to get at a user who is trying to deny they did something than to post log excerpts and show them exactly what they did!

Restart Chat
This command isn't used very often. But, when you absolutely need it, it's nice to know it is there. It is also the quickest way to clean out your chat rooms, click, all users gone!

User Editor
This combined database search utility and editor will handle all your user editing needs. When you first enter the page you are presented with a blank search form. You provide certain criteria and the search program will return all accounts which match that criteria. You can search on the users Handle, Email, First Name, Last Name, Password, Last IP, Public Email, Visits, Profanity Warnings, and Account Status. You also define how to compare the search field with your text by selecting either Equals, Starts With, Ends With, Contains, Is Less Than, and Is More Than. And finally, you decide how to sort the data returned by selecting either First Name, Last Name, Email, Handle, Password, Last IP, Visits, or Profanity Warnings. Once you click on Show Users, the program generates a list of accounts showing the Handle, Real Name, Email, Account Status, Password, Profanity Warnings, Visits, and Last Login Date for each user. You also have links to Edit, Lock, or Delete each account. If you choose to edit an account, you are taken to the User Editor. Here is a sample User Editor Screen (again, use your browser's back button to return here).
